You're Invited! Join us for one of our regular Autistic Social Hangouts

No pressure, no masking, just real talk, and real connection.

If you’re an autistic adult looking for a welcoming, understanding, and neuro-affirming space to connect with others who get it, you’re invited to join us at one of our Autistic Social Hangouts. Twice monthly, AFTI’s Shannan Lea hosts a gathering of autistics from around the world. We aim to offer a safe and supportive environment to share experiences, ask questions, hear stories, and build meaningful connections. Though each hangout is different, it is always a space where you can be yourself.

Whether you're newly diagnosed, neuro-curious or have known you're autistic for years, this group is for you, run by autistic people, with autistic people and for autistic people, because lived experience matters.
 

Meet others from around the world and talk about life on the spectrum in a space that unconditionally respects and celebrates neurodivergence.

What to expect at our Hangouts

• Neurodivergent-friendly facilitation
• Real connection (not just small talk)
• Come-as-you-are vibe (no pressure, no masking)
• Inclusive, respectful conversations
• A mix of support, storytelling, and shared experiences
• Two monthly Zoom meet-ups with options to suit multiple timezones.

Common discussion topics include:

• Experiences of being diagnosed as an adult.
• Common interests and unique hobbies (from a diverse international group)
• Support needs, managing burnout, and self-advocacy.
• Share what being autistic means to you.
• Everyday issues such as masking, communication, social anxiety, disclosure, stimming, etc…

Who this group is for:

This event is designed for autistic and neurodivergent people, whether you’re formally diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or just questioning. We also welcome allies, friends, family, advocates, educators, support workers, and anyone else who wants to connect with us in a neuro-affirming space.
